Hello Vikings families,
On March 30th, the AFMO Executive board met via teleconference to discuss the covid-19 pandemic and the effect on our spring programs. After discussing the advice of the Federal and Provincial public health authorities and the guidelines in place from both Football Canada and Football Quebec, the Board has decided to suspend all football activities until June 1st. The safety of our players, families and volunteers has to be our number one priority
This will result in the following changes to the original schedules:
1) Football Fit is cancelled for 2020. Parents who had made payment will be reimbursed in full. We hope to see you back in 2021.
2) LFMO will now start in June instead of April. It will run in a modified format overlapping with the Tyke and Mosquito Vikings tryout camps. If we are unable to start the LFMO in June, the season will be cancelled.
3) Peewee and Bantam Vikings camps originally slated to begin early May will now start in June. The plan will need to be fluid and we ask for patience as we start back up after the shutdown.
We realize that our players were anxious to get back on the field in May, but we all need to do our part to help flatten the curve and protect the most vulnerable in our community.
Registration for the fall season is open on the website. If you had registered for the spring camp, we ask that you complete the fall registration form at this time.
We ask that you follow the Vikings Facebook page for updates and check the
AFMO Google calendar for updates to the schedule as they are confirmed. The April 8th registration night is
cancelled and is tentatively rescheduled for June 1st, 7pm at 165 rue Saint-Antoine.
We understand that families have more important things to worry about right now than football, but we also acknowledge that many of our players are anxious to get back out on the field to play the sport they love. We will get through this. Football is a community and we will stick together. If there is anything we can do to help, let us know.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through this together.
