The Gatineau Vikings compete in various leagues across Quebec and Ontario. U-10 to U-14 teams play in the National Capital Amateur Football Association (NCAFA) in Ottawa, the U-16 team plays in the Quebec Bantam Football League (QBFL), and the U-18 team plays in the Quebec Midget Football League (QMFL) and National Capital Amateur Football Association (NCAFA).
No. Football Canada regulations do not permit players to participate on two football teams at the same time. The exception is when the school football season does not overlap with the Vikings season. For example, players may be able to participate on both teams if their school season takes place in the spring and the Vikings season takes place in the fall. Parents and players should be aware that Football Canada guidelines may further limit the number of games a player can participate in each year.
The games start in mid-August and run until the end of the October. Tryouts normally occur in mid-to late July.
Eligibility is based on the year of birth: U-10 is 2016-2015, U-12 is 2014-2013, U-14 is 2012-2011, U-16 is 2010-2009 and 2008 if the date of birth is after August 31st.
The registration fee is $500. This fee includes all the games and practices and the loan of football equipment.
In addition, there are also two refundable deposits: A $250 equipment deposit for the loan of the equipment (helmet, shoulder pads, pants, knee pads, belts, and jerseys) and a volunteer bond of $100 per family.
As a 100% volunteer-run organization, each family is required to complete volunteer duties during the season.
Provided that all the equipment is returned and the volunteer obligations are fulfilled, the deposits will be returned at the end of the season.
Equipment pickup dates, times, and instructions are posted on our homepage and shared with registered families before the season begins.
All players trying out for a Vikings team are required to pay a non-refundable $50 fee. The fee must be paid before the first day of training camp. Players selected for a Vikings team have the $50 fee deducted from their season fees.
Yes. All players who make a Vikings team will have opportunities to participate.
However, the Vikings are a competitive football program, and equal playing time is not guaranteed.
Playing time is determined by the coaching staff and may vary based on factors such as attendance, effort, attitude, skill development, position requirements, and game situations.
Practices typically begin in mid-to late July and are held two to three times per week.
The exact schedule for each level is determined by the head coach and will be posted on the AFMO calendar once finalized.
The full schedule for the season is usually released by early August.
While exact dates and times vary by level, families should expect games to be played on weekends from early September through late October.
As soon as the schedules are finalized and provided by the leagues, they will be posted on the AFMO calendar.

Equipment return dates will be communicated to families before the end of the season and typically take place within one week of the team’s final game.
All equipment must be returned on the designated return date.
Failure to return equipment may result in the equipment deposit being forfeited and additional replacement costs being charged.

Please note that routine communications are not provided by telephone.
For insurance and safety reasons, parents and spectators are not permitted on the field during practice or games unless they are registered and authorized team or club volunteers with Football Quebec. The Gatineau Valkyries U-18 team plays in the LFFMQ. The Senior team will play in the CWFL for the 2024 season.
The simple answer is NO. Football Canada regulations under the Long Term Athlete Development Framework (LTAD) prohibit players from playing for two football teams concurrently. The only way you can play for both is if your school team season is in the fall and does not overlap with the LFFMQ season in the spring. Once fully implemented, the Football Canada LTAD will limit the number of games players are allowed to play in a year, and will prevent players from playing for both school and civil team even if not seasons are concurrent.
The games start in May and run until the end of the June. Tryouts normally occur in April.
Eligibility is based on the year of birth. For the 2024 season, U-18 is 2007-2009.
Outdoor practices begin in mid-April and run 2-3 times a week (the exact schedule is determined by the head coach at each level) and will be posted in the calendar on our website once determined.
For insurance reasons, parents are NOT allowed on the field during a practice or game unless they are official team/Club volunteers registered with Football Quebec. If your child requires assistance getting dressed, please help them outside the fence. Only in the case of serious injury and ONLY if requested to do so by a team official may a parent step onto the field.
- A completed FQ medical form
- A completed AFMO code of conduct. This form needs to be signed by both the player and a parent.
- Clear photocopy of a proof of age. Either a passport, birth certificate or valid healthcare card.
- Clear photocopy of proof of address. Either the page of the players current school report card showing the home address or players drivers license (if the player is 16+)
No player will be allowed to participate in the training camp unless all paperwork is in order. Please note, depending on the registration requirements of the league, players may need to present originals of the two pieces of identification to the league registrar. If this is the case, you will be notified in advance of the date.
